The name Dhoodhpathri means “Valley of Milk” Dhoodhpathri is a marvelous bowl shaped valley, the shepherds from different areas to this place along with their cattle’s. This valley is connected to Gurez and Poonch on its north by adventurous  trekking routes.

now a days became 1st choice of tourist to include in their Kashmir Visit. Dhoodhathri has lush green meadows, Wood & flowing river namely Shaliganga. It’s been said that, Sheikh-Ul-Aalam” Sheikh-Noor-Ud-Din Noorani, has prayed and stayed, There is strong belief that in search of water he has pricked the ground with his stick and fresh water with colour of milk start flowing through the valley of Dhoodpathri. Till this day there is a place where the hand marks were found on rock and there is a hook which has been related that Sheikh-Ul-Aalam” Sheikh-Noor-Ud-Din Noorani has tied his Goat and there are also some remain of Chula at the same place namely Resikhal.

How to get Dhoodhpathri; Off the srinagar- Airport road, route to dhoodhpathri passes through famous village of District Budgam. Crossing most revered shrine of the area Khan Sahab, via Yarikha & from Srinagar City about 45-48 Km in the district Budam and around 2 Hrs. of drive via car and there are 2 ways to reach Dhoodpathri, from Khan Saheb one can opt for either option there is only slight 3 Kms of difference in between options. Upon arrival the first thing one can notice their small tea stalls of operated by locals most of seller are local women’s selling Noon Chai “Samavor Noon Chai”, Makia Tchot “Corn bread”, Kahmiri Anchar & Saag “Pickels & Spanish” on very affordable prices. Dhoodpathri is also home of Gujjar & Bakarwals who stayed there for at least 6 Month during the year due to harsh climate they prafer to move to the down valley.

In summers the main lively hood of these people are Pony & Livestock. Their homes are made up of mud & tree logs are main infrastructure to their shelter. Dhoodhpathi has most picturesque landscapes with lush green meadows and the best part is the moment a person starts walking on those beautiful meadows they feel it as comfortable as a lavish carpet; however, it’s a vast piece of land around 105 Sq. Kms, it’s quite recommendable to hire a ATV or Pony to visit beautiful surrounding, Places like, Tangnar, Shali Ganga, Reshikhal, Diksal & muchmore.
