Pather Masjid Srinagar by Ahanger HOBO.
Standing on the banks of the Jhelum opposite the Shah-i-Hamdan is the beautiful and cool open plan mosque of Empress Nur Jehan. The only of its kind in Srinagar, it is surrounded by an old stone wall, leaving the mosque quiet and calm and relatively free from distraction. Upon entering its gates, you will be instantly reminded of the Mughal mosques in Delhi and Agra and this mosque was built around the same time in 1620. There is lovely quaint garden with four majestic Chinars growing in each corner. There is definitely a wonderful feminine element to this place lacking in the other religious buildings of Kashmir. The mosque is built entirely of limestone, and there was an old belief that the walls of this place could cure smallpox. You can visit this mosque by taking the bridge across the Jhelum from Shah-i-Hamdan, and also couple it with as visit to the tomb of Zain-ab-al-Din.
