Bird watching in Kashmir has been a passion for travelers having interest in watching birds of myriad species. Migratory birds from Siberia and central Asia use wetlands of Kashmir during autumn, winter and spring as transitory camps.
Some Seasonal & Diverse Birds species: 554 species of 13 orders, 262 species from temperate and alpine regions are found in Kashmir Valley. Myna, sparrow, Himalayan bulbul, rock pigion, crow, large billed crow, long tail shrike, hoopoe, cucoo, kite, long legged buzzard, Eurasian roller, Himalayan wood pekker, long tail Minivet, russet sparrow, European bee eater, bluethroat, rose ringed parakeet. Acquatic Birds-Kingfisher, pied kingfisher, whiskered tern, citrine wagtail, grey heron, little egret, common coot, northern pintail, mallard, black winged stilt, black headed gull.
